Last month RenewAire hosted TEC customers and employees at their new LEED Gold office and manufacturing facility in Waunakee, WI. Participants were awarded PDH hours during this visit and helpful knowledge to pass on.
It was a two day event that started with a tour and tasting at the Ale Asylum Brewery in Madison, where everyone was delighted with the brew master’s concoctions and a host of tasty hors d’oeuvres. As a special treat everyone was shown the refrigeration side of the brewing process, which was to the delight of the HVAC team!
The next day started bright and early with RenewAire’s VP of Sales and Marketing, Nick Agopian giving a brief history of the company, and how they are represented in the world of IAQ. He stressed the importance of better air quality for the health and well-being of the world population. Up next was Product Manager Nishant Kanapilly; his main focus throughout the first part of his presentation was Federal and State codes and standards, and how they are encouraging everyone to go beyond the requirements for better IAQ. In the second part of the presentation he touched on the importance of zero air cross leakage and how the Energy Recovery Ventilator can affect payback.
This was the perfect time for Technical Support Manager, Dave Baldus to discuss how to utilize RenewAire. He spoke about installation faux pas and maximizing performance. For the participants to fully grasp RenewAire’s products and their performance, a factory tour showcasing the new production facility and LEED Gold HVAC plant took place. One of the highlights was a viewing of their new Dedicated Outdoor Air System that combines an ERV, heating and cooling in one system.
The day finished with Nishant and Nick giving a demonstration of their new CORES software selection tool that distributors, engineers and contractors have at their disposal.
All who attended this visit found it to be an informative and worthwhile day. Participants expressed that their visit will generate new ideas and sales. Future visits will be available.

How do you get a 24’x8’x6’ PoolPak SWHP190SR dehumidification unit through a 6’ wide door?
Hugh Flack was brought on as Facility Director at the school in 2017 and when he found that the existing PoolPak unit was due for replacement he contacted TEC. Jay DeStefano, Territory Manager and John Peloza, Product Manager met with the school and its Engineer, Wold Architects & Engineers, to help with the project. TEC was able to replicate the original unit with improvements such as variable frequency drives and premium efficiency fan motors. Wold also improved air distribution and quality with new duct work.
A problem arose when they were trying to figure out how they were going to get this huge piece of equipment through a 6′ wide door. The answer was piece by piece using PoolPak’s Build on Site program. PoolPak is unique with this offering. The unit was built at the factory and packed onto skids. A factory crew of four builders was sent to the job site to assemble the unit in four days. This crew was followed up by a factory startup technician and a TEC factory trained technician. The project timeline was tight, as most school summer projects tend to be. The general contractor, Irving Construction Company and the mechanical contractor C. Acitelli Heating & Piping Contractors worked together to get the pool back in operation on time.
TEC is the representative for PoolPak in Northern Illinois and Northwest Indiana. Please contact your Territory Manager for more information.

What Homeowners are Saying about Respicaire
Several years ago my husband and I bought our second “new to us” home. At the time we had a young toddler and were expecting our second shortly after having moved in. As we settled into our home we started to notice that there was a constant build-up of dust. It seemed like a never ending battle, especially in areas near the vents. We were changing our filters regularly and had had the furnace checked when we moved in – it was considered to be in good condition and was well maintained.
Fast forward a few months and our newborn son started presenting a constant cough. We were diligent in our dust management but still, the problem presented. After months of non-stop respiratory related illnesses, he was prescribed puffers. This was not okay with me, I felt like there had to be something we could do to improve our son’s health.
During this time as we researched options we were introduced to the possibility that our HVAC system may be a part of the problem. After discussing options, we elected to move forward with Respicaire’s UV purifiers and electronic air cleaners. What a difference! If we had known we would have installed this before our son was born! The hacking and coughing stopped.
Fast forward another eight years and my son is no longer using puffers or vulnerable to constant chest infections. The air in the home smells fresh and dust is no longer a problem, unless of course we don’t clean it….
In the end our big learning was that a healthy homestead includes clean air! Thank you Respicaire!
Recently Weather Rite Corporation acknowledged HVAC Solutions and Temperature Equipment Corporation (TEC) as one of their top achievers for 2015.
The award was presented to David Weiss (center), General Manager of HVAC Solutions and David Taylor (left), Product Manager for Weather Rite by Doug Halterman (right), National Sales Manager for Weather Rite.
In presenting the award, Doug Halterman noted that TEC’s sales force has worked diligently to make Weather Rite’s product top of mind in their customers’ applications. Doug stated that 2016 is already starting out to be another record year.
Weather Rite manufactures direct and indirect fired make-up air units as well as air turnover units. Their direct fired TT rugged industrial-type construction makes them the preferred choice for units that face continuous duty under extreme circumstances. Their air turnover units are the preeminent choice for heating and cooling large areas such as warehouses, factories and distribution centers.
Weather Rite’s indirect fired units can handle up to 57,000 CFM, while their direct fired units can handle 85,000 CFM. Their air turnover units can handle 100,000. All units can be customized for heating only or heating & cooling with a variety of other options. Weather Rite also manufactures custom units up to 100,000 CFM.

TEC partnered with a local engineering firm and contractor to design the best in comfort and energy efficiency for a residential project located in Fontana, WI.
TEC Territory Manager, Jose Ronchetta, worked extensively with a highly professional consulting engineering firm. The firm specializes in mechanical and electrical engineering for buildings, focusing on green and energy conservative designs. After many hours of consulting and engineering work, the job was ready for installation.
The impressive installation was completed by Ridgeway Home Services, a heating company that services the greater Chicagoland area. Ridgeway is considered a hydronics heating expert but also services and installs many other types of equipment, making it right for this project.

What the Mechanical Hub video series on the Fontana, WI project:
On June 9th TEC hosted an event sponsored by Carel USA Humidification and RenewAire Energy Recovery Ventilators. The day started out with the Carel van in the parking lot of U.S. Cellular field where several engineers and contractors learned how Carel could satisfy all their humidification needs.
Carel USA manufactures humidification products in Manheim, PA. They are the 3rd largest manufacturer in the world of humidifiers. Their systems range from 3 lbs/hr. to 12,000 lbs/hr. They manufacture products in two broad categories:
Isothermal (steam) using electricity or gas to generate steam
Adiabatic (pressure) using compressed air or centrifugal force to generate mist
Carel products have a variety of distribution methods ranging from spray nozzles to distribution pipes and manifolds.
They have a unique evaporative cooling system called Optimist that can be used in the summer time to reduce cooling needs and in the winter to meet humidification needs.
RenewAire manufactures products in Madison, WI. They use a heat exchanger that can transfer sensible as well as latent energy. Their efficiency approaches that of a wheel for energy recovery. Their ERV’s are self-contained and can handle up to 8,000 CFM and can go as high as 20,000 CFM when using modules with external fans. Their products can be used outdoors or indoors. RenewAire also makes combo curbs to use with Carrier roof top units.
They can operate down to -10 degrees without frosting and don’t need a condensate system. They are easy to clean, with the simple use of a vacuum cleaner.
